Get to know our previous interns and find out about where they are now!

Kristen Lanzavecchia, BBA UC San Diego 2013

Kristen is currently an Analyst II in our Business Strategy department after interning at HCA in 2013.
Her hobbies include: traveling, hiking, yoga, and craft beer.

What was the most exciting part of the Local Internship? (Now known as FLP)

The most exciting part of the internship was having the opportunity to meet some of HCA’s senior leaders and learn about what they do in their respective departments as well as receive some great career advice.

What is the best part about working at HCA?

The best part about working for HCA are the opportunities for personal development. In the year I have been working here I have taken at least 10 training classes (from MS Excel training to career development classes), I was invited to the Global Training Program in Seoul, Korea with newly hired analysts from Korea, China and Europe, I participated in a 3-day Consulting Boot Camp, and I attended Breakfast with the Executives with the VP of Treasury, just to name a few.

Diana Cabral, BA University of Michigan 2014

Diana is currently an Analyst II in our Financial Planning and Analysis department after interning at HCA in 2013. She has just graduated with a major in Economics and minors in Applied Statistics and Korean. Her hobbies include: Scoping out the bar and restaurant scene in Orange County and LA, bikram yoga, scenic runs, and basketball (but maintains that she is still not a Lakers fan!)

What was the most exciting part of the Global Internship?

Professionally, the breadth of projects that I was able to take part of during my time as a global intern was really exciting. Atypical from a “normal internship” where there may be a lot of busy work involved, I helped with market research and benchmarking for HCS’s fleet development team, worked with a team of interns to pitch a new product for Hyundai Card, and presented a new market analysis for HCA’s entry into Brazil. Socially, the opportunity to have some of the brightest students at Korea’s top universities as our tour guides and get the insider’s scope around Seoul is an experience I will never forget.

What is the best part about working at HCA?

As it has becoming increasingly common to hear about companies become more mature and focusing  on stability,  It’s really something special to be working at HCA. Here we’re in “growth mode” and constantly finding ways to expand the business. This has made for a uniquely dynamic work environment. Specifically working for HCI (Hyundai Capital Insurance), which has only been around for a little over a year and a half, I have the opportunity to be a part of both traditional FP&A roles as well as endeavors such as HPP’s entry into Canada as well as the launch of Kia’s insurance program.
